Here is your degree... It makes for a good placemat.
Did the school system fail you? Did you leave with nothing more than a sheet of paper and a vast knowledge of useless information? Were you bored? Unchallenged? Lost? If you answered yes then join the club.
The American education is so archaic and redundant it is no surprise that we continue to fall behind the other world powers. How much longer are we going to waste the youth of our children teaching them lies and outdated information? How many more young men and women have to find themselves stuck at 23 years old with a sheet of paper, insurmountable debt and no prospects?
We bombard our children from the moment they can understand us that they have to go to college if they want to amount to anything. We fill their heads with nonsense saying that they are too young to know what is good for them and a few more years of advanced education is just what they need to find their path. We continue to portray the working "stiff" as an oaf; ill-mannered and slow witted. It is a shame and a horrible injustice that we do to our youth.
First, let me begin by saying that I am all for furthering your education. I love the quest of knowledge and feel that people who have the urge should always continue to make strides in their desire to better themselves. But what about those who are barely getting by in high school? Why terrify them with the false notion that the only chance they have at the "American Dream" is with a college education?
Years ago all schools offered automotive technology, work and apprentice programs that offered plumbing, construction, electrician, etc... These are all occupations that make up the backbone of our society as much as our doctors and lawyers.
Now we force our school age young adults to take six years of French and a year of calculus to prepare them for a college that they might have no interest in attending. Generations ago there was a noticeable gap between college grads and non college grads. And the gap grew exponentially with grad school and beyond, Today there is almost no gap between those who graduate college and those who do not. Considering the years that you were out of the workforce pursuing a degree and the amount of money spent on college, some individuals take decades to just catch their peers who entered the workforce right after high school.
Again, I am not saying that college is a waste of time. But telling our youth it is the only option for success is a outright lie. Let our children pursue their passion, let them know that it is okay to dream big outside of the lines, Let them know that the blue collar union worker is just as important as our professionals. Because, when it is three in the morning and you are standing knee high in sh*t water in your basement... you're writing your plumber a check regardless of how fluent his/her French is...

First World Fights
It amazes me the time and effort that some people spend fighting something that in other parts of the world would be laughed at. Or in most cases, they wish that they had that problem. Recently, a high school in a nice area of Long Island New York opted to go with a gender neutral cap and gown for their high school graduation ceremony and the response was anything but harmonious...
Kids decided to stage a walkout, parents had "emergency" PTA board meetings and everyone took to social media like a Kardashian to a rapper.
It was pathetic....
All that this world is facing at this moment and this is the fight that you choose? There are children in our own community who are faced with being homeless, going to bed hungry every night and the real fear of worrying what the future brings. We have a drug epidemic the likes of we have never seen that is sweeping the country and leaving certain areas devastated in its path. We have an income gap that continues to grow at such an alarming rate that pretty soon celebrities wont even be able to afford the prostitutes and drugs that they have become accustomed to.
There are certain areas of the United States that right at this moment are practically a police state. Cops patrolling streets so dangerous that there are curfews. There are locations in Baltimore, New Jersey, Chicago, Detroit, etc... that look like third world war torn countries. That are countless teenagers in this country who will never even have the opportunity to wear that cap and gown because the so called "American Dream" isn't truly meant for them.
Yet, you choose to fight over the fact that your daughter has to wear the same color gown as some dude? In the grand scheme of things do you realize how miniscule and ridiculous this is? There are eight year olds working in the diamond minds of Sierra Leone who will not live to see their teenage years but this is the fight that you chose?
In the fall these kids will head out to their colleges, universities and workplaces. I hope that upon getting settled in to their new environment that can look past the foolishness of their privileged elitist life and take up a cause that is truly worth fighting for. Because a year from now no one is giving a f@#k what color you wore when you accepted your diploma.
Also if you like a different perspective on Good and Evil please give my first Novel God Quit a read

Starving for fame!!!
I stand in awe when I watch the news and I see these so called "Celebs" and their never ending quest to stay in the spotlight. It is pathetic. We as a society have made celebrities of people who in other generations would have been a nobody. When you look back at some of the stars of the past they were true Hollywood. Dean Martin singing, acting and joking. Sammy Davis Jr. dancing. Tito Puente playing music, etc.. Now we are given The Kardashians, Teen Mom Farrah Abraham and anyone who shows their ass on YouTube.
The problem is that we continue to give these losers attention. We put them on the cover of our newspapers, the nightly news puts their stories ahead of real world issues and we follow their Instagram accounts closer than our own family. But I do not know what is worse, our sad obsession with them? Or their desperate attempts to stay "relevant" in the non-stop media blitz that we now live in?
For example; the Kardashian clan is popular for a pathetic sex tape that was made with the brother of a washed up rapper. Really? I can't even put a number on the amount of sex tapes that are probably out there with singers and groupies. But apparently this one was conveniently "leaked" and now we have been stuck with this family ever since. It's like that cousin that you don't admit you're related to in public but you love to watch the shit mess that they call life unravel like a fruit roll up. And what happens when the shimmer of this fame begins to fade? They do something "outrageous" so their name is back in the paper. Case in point, Kourtney is old and boring so last week while food shopping I am hit in the face with a slew of magazines saying that she's banging Justin Bieber... Seriously? Is the desire to stay in the spotlight so strong that you would fall that low?
I also laugh at the Teen Moms that we have turned into "Celebs". Now, I have nothing negative about young moms but she would honestly promote teen pregnancy by giving every girl who gets knocked up her own television show? What does this teach our young girls? Screw it, skip school, let your boyfriend slip one past the goalie and you'll be set for a few years with your own show, book deals and magazine interviews. My favorite of this group is Farrah Abraham. To call her a mother is an insult to true parents because she spends little to no time actually raising the child. She does spend the majority of her time getting breast implants, posing nude and making porn flicks. I love the title of the "movie" too. Back Door Teen Mom, Now I do not mean to be crass and I barely passed biology but I'm pretty confidant to say that if it was "Back Door" she wouldn't be a teen mom.
You even have the girls from the Jersey Shore writing books on parenting. That is the same as Jeffrey Dahmer writing a book on how to cook for friends or Scott Wieland penning a book on sobriety.
This list could go on with pseudo celebs for ever. It is sad that they take up valuable time in our papers, news and magazines. We are all to blame for clicking on their links, watching their shows and buying their magazines.
I have to go now, I just set my camera up to record myself riding a dwarf horse, while wearing a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleading outfit, playing a ukulele all while beating a midget with a twizzler... I am going to be famous!

What Have We Become?
Over the weekend a young rookie New Jersey police officer with only seven months on the job was killed ambush style while sitting in his police cruiser. The assailant went on to exchange gun fire with the arriving officers before he met his demise by one of their bullets. As much as this is a heinous crime, the actions that followed were even worse.
What did the neighborhood do in the wake of this tragedy you ask? Did they start a fund in the young officer's name? NO...
Did they weep for his family and a young life wasted? NO...
Instead they set up a makeshift memorial honoring the murderer. Yes, you read that correct. The man who cowardly killed a police officer had a memorial dedicated to him before the blood of his victim was even dry.
People... What the F**k are we doing? Are we really going to glorify a man who just killed someone in cold blood? What is next? The Boston Bombers Memorial Bridge? Have we all become so removed from reality that we are just numb to our surroundings and the actions of our fellow man? Has the news become just a gag reel that we are all content with as long as it doesn't happen close enough to home to hurt our property value?
The problem here goes beyond the graffiti and words painted on that wall. It is bigger than the cards and candles. The problem is that one kid is going to walk past that wall and this thug will become his hero. The problem is that this piece of garbage will live on in infamy, even if it is only on that one block, long after the man that he killed name will be forgotten. The story will evolve over the years. The prism of time changes perception in strange and fascinating ways. Before long this man will be the Robin Hood of his ghetto.
To add insult to injury the perpetrator's wife had the nerve to say that she wished her husband killed more cops. She is a disgusting human being...
We are all to blame for this tragedy. Each day society falls deeper and deeper into despair. We look up to athletes who get busted for gun possession, we let our children idolize drug dealers, porn stars and convicts.
Years ago every house had a picture of the President of the United States of America. Now it is Kloe K with some rapper holding an automatic weapon and drinking champagne that costs more than my truck.
For the first time in my life I could honestly say that I am scared of what we have become but I am more afraid of where we are going.
Is it hot in here or am I crazy?

Columbus was a murderer and a rapist... Enjoy the parade!
Here we go again... Each and every year I am dumbfounded that people continue to celebrate Christopher Columbus. I am shocked that the schools still force feed our young ones a pack of lies as they color little pictures of happy pilgrims and the Santa Maria. Why have we made this man into a hero? Why do we observe this holiday?
Any educated person was well aware that the world was round centuries before Columbus set out on his voyage, yet people still give him credit for taking the "gamble". Not much of a gamble considering Leif Ericson was already there about half a millennia before Columbus. Upon arriving in the "New" world Columbus quickly noticed that his new "friends" were adorned in gold. He said screw the new route to Asia, went back to the queen of Spain and returned with shiploads of armed men.
From that moment forward he did nothing but reign terror on an otherwise peaceful group of people. Upon returning with his army he demanded that the natives allow his men to take whatever they wanted including the native's women. When they denied this request, he had their ears and noses cuts off so they could be sent back as a symbol of why not to revolt. When they couldn't take anymore, the natives revolted and this gave Columbus a reason for war. He was doing so much damage at one point the queen had him returned in shackles. This man was a rapist, he was a murderer and if we are to praise him, there are a couple of other holidays that I propose...

Edward Snowden is a Traitor...?
This week Edward Snowden's father traveled to Moscow to visit his fugitive son. My question is... why did we allow this? Even I, the biggest liberal out there, consider what Edward Snowden did a criminal act. There are those who applaud him, saying "damn the man!". They call him a modern folk hero. They couldn't be more incorrect. Some times ignorance is truly bliss. Snowden committed treason and in doing so put people at risk. Now, I am all for keeping big brother off of my back but if a random computer screen or phone tap continues to let me sleep through the night, sign me up. I have nothing to hide, all you'd find is some boring porn and classic cars. You can fly drones over my house and scan all my gadgets, if it stops a bunch of losers from blowing up another marathon... I am all for it. Now, before you all get your undies in a bunch I am not calling for a police state.
Let's be honest, our government has done a lot worse stuff than spying on its own people. You're talking about a country that set up a false government in French-Indo China just to overtake it, had Jim Crowe laws and allows the Kardashians roughly thirty hours of television time a week. Some covert spying is really the least of our problems, what is scary is what else this young man might be leaking out.
What else did this man know? And something that has been really overlooked... How the hell did this guy ever even obtain this position? He had little to no education, no formal training and somehow was privy to information that only a handful of individuals in the country had. To me, that should be the biggest fear. Who the f**k is Edward Snowden and how did he fall through the cracks?
The other question can be, was he put there on purpose? Supposedly we found and killed some dirty Taliban freak hiding out in a bunker eating Ramen noodles. We know where this guy is and if we truly wanted him, he'd be dead. Treason is punishable by death and this man committed treason yet we're after him almost as much as O.J Simpson is searching for his wife's murderer. So why the charades?
This story stinks. We haven't even scratched the surface of the truth and I doubt we ever will. But some people are okay with that. Then again, some people accept the Lee Harvey Oswald single shooter theory too...
