Who puts half of this s**t on television nowadays? There are like three shows that involve pawn shops, four having to do with some type of auction, a slew of toothless outback men messing with catfish and alligators and even a show about two geeks driving a van rummaging through people's trash. (Yeah, I watch that one too...) As silly as these shows may seem, they are nothing more than harmless entertainment and to be honest I watch a handful of them.
But not everything that they air is harmless. There are a plethora of shoes that in my opinion are detrimental to society. 1) Keeping up the the K's- This show is a disgrace. It is basically the brainchild of a woman who would do anything to pimp out her children. It is a completely scripted "reality" show that highlights all that is wrong with society; greed, pride, vanity, etc... Years ago a sex tape would be a career ender, now it is a career spring board. Or in this case, a career inventor. 2)The Jersey Bore - This is not only an insult to people of Jersey, it is not only an insult to Italians this show is in fact an insult to the human race. These people are getting paid to promote alcoholism, they have no respect for themselves as they hop from bed to bed sleeping with anything that has a pulse, and embarrass themselves every time they leave the house by falling down drunk. What do we do with this people??? We idolize them, give them shows and extend their 15 minutes of fame much longer than it ever should have lasted. 3) Teen Mommy - Okay, who ever came up with the premise of this show should be put in a Turkish snuff film. How can we allow a show on television that promotes unwed teen pregnancy, child neglect, drug abuse and assault??? Are they serious with this show? Now, before you get all pissed off, I will agree that there are thousands of women who had babies as teenagers, when on to better themselves and led amazing productive lives while raising well rounded children. My problem is, this show just doesn't highlight any of those women. This program does not show what happens when these girls have to go to work when the residual show money runs out and they cannot find a job because they were too busy trying to make good television when they should have been getting an education or learning a craft. This show doesn't talk about the late nights when the baby has a fever, the college experience that these girls will not have and a hundred other sacrifices that they will make for the rest of their lives. This show has made "celebrities" of kids who do drugs, get boob jobs and physically/verbally assault their parents. Really, is this a good idea?
When I was younger we looked up to our dads and the hard work they put in everyday. We idolized academics like Einstein and Newton, men who changed the world. We looked up to people who stood for something, people with integrity. Now, the youth of today want to be idolized so bad they will shoot a sex tape, have a kid at 17 and then spend their 20's in a drunken stupor making a fool out of themselves.
Is it hot in here or am I Crazy?
Hi Tony its me Dad looks great!
ReplyDeleteVery well said. I believe that organized religion, one that I do not participate in any longer is what has in the past kept the masses in line. As a child I would never do anything wrong out of the fear that "God would punish me". As an adult female, I know that there is something deep inside each and every one of us that lets us know and feel what is right or wrong. We try to do the next right thing, one day at a time. I know in my gut what I should do, say, etc. No one is perfect and we will fail at life miserably sometimes, but each day is always a new start. A start towards a spiritual sense of goodness within ourselves.
ReplyDeleteWell said ! Best of luck man!
